Nora Roberts knows her sex and sauce.

Some years ago I stumbled across this recipe in a Nora Roberts book. Feel free to judge me. It wasn't a new Nora Roberts book like "The Witness" or "The Collector" with a catching mystery and a fast paced story, it was an old one from the early 80s.

You know the type of book, where people still smoked in doctors offices and men still slapped women's asses freely.

Not that I'm not down with a little ass slapping.

Anywho, it's the climax of the book. The lovers finally meet up in a small cottage on the lake. The author paints a picture of sexual tension you can cut with a knife. The female character seduces the male with her…

...fine sauce making skills of course! Cooking starts, and is then interrupted by furious love making. I have no recollection of the love making scene. For those who know me, you know that must have been one hell of a damn sauce recipe. Over the years, I've played with the recipe slightly and pretty much perfected it to an orgasmic level.

Take your pants off people, here's the recipe:

3/4 Cup of butter
1 med onion chopped
2 garlic cloves
1 can crushed tomatoes
Splash or two of red wine
salt and pepper
Fresh Basil

Put something sexy on.
Get out large glass
Pour red wine in large glass…..drink up
Feeling sexy yet?

In a medium saucepan, melt butter, add in the onion and garlic. Cook on medium till they are soft.

Add in the canned crushed tomatoes. Please get good canned tomatoes. Like Whole foods or an Italian shop kind of good tomatoes. For those who are Collingwood locals, go to Tesoro. They have good ones there.

Editors note: For those of you in Osgoode Compliments tomatoes is all you are getting.

Add your wine, salt and pepper and let it simmer for a bit. A few hours if possible. Go have sex.

That's what the book characters did.

I, personally, like to blend up the sauce with my hand blender. I don't like chunks. But you can just serve as is. Your call.

Serve blended or not on pasta, top with chopped Basil.

Enjoy over wine and candles.

Or in front of your TV watching Sherlock.

Both are perfectly acceptable.
